Timmis rushed six times for 20 yards in the Tiger-Cats' 28-14 loss to the Stampeders on Saturday.

Timmis was originally listed behind Nikita Whitlock on the depth chart at running back, but he ended up pacing the team in carries and rushing yards. However, the Ti-Cats' primary focus was clearing the passing game, and that will likely remain the case while lead back Alex Green (hand) remains sidelined. The 24-year-old Timmis has only logged eight carries over his first two CFL seasons, so his fantasy upside remains significantly limited heading into a Week 2 matchup against the Eskimos.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Timmis is listed as the backup running back for the Tiger-Cats' Week 1 matchup with the Stampeders.

Timmis appeared on track to start Saturday with fellow back Alex Green (hand) injured, but based on the depth chart, it will be Nikita Whitlock who fills the spot. Whitlock is officially listed on the Tiger-Cats' roster as a defensive tackle, though, so it's certainly likely Timmis sees some snaps in the backfield as well.

Timmis took the first-team reps at running back during Wednesday's practice, according to head coach June Jones.

Timmis stepped in Wednesday in place of the injured Alex Green (hand), and that makes him the favorite to open the season as the Tiger-Cats' starting running back with Green sidelined. Green is expected to miss at least one game beyond the opener, but by Week 2, fellow running back and new addition John White could be up to speed with his new squad and push Timmis for snaps.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Timmis had 10 carries for 56 yards in Hamilton's preseason opener on Friday.

Timmis led the Tiger-Cats in carries Friday and made the most of his opportunities. He had been competing with Storm Johnson for the backup spot behind presumed starter Alex Green, but Johnson was released Sunday, which essentially gives Timmis the job. Green is currently away from the team tending to a personal matter, and it's clear if his status for Week 1 is in question. However, if Green is ultimately unable to go, Timmis would likely be the next man up in his place.

Timmis was placed on the six-game injured list Wednesday for an undisclosed reason.

With both No. 2 running back Timmis and No. 3 back Sean Thomas-Erlington (undisclosed) both on the six-game injured list, C.J. Gable -- the only other back on the depth chart -- is in line to see a heavy workload for the foreseeable future. It's unclear exactly how the Tiger-Cats will handle such a situation, though more information should emerge closer to kickoff.

Timmis could see action in Friday's matchup with the Redblacks, according to TSN.

Timmis has totaled just three carries this season, but two of those came last week, and he is the clear backup on Hamilton's depth chart this week with Ross Scheuerman on the practice roster. C.J. Gable is listed as the Tiger-Cats' starting running back this week, but Timmis could see some work again.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Timmis will open the season on the 6-game injured list with an undisclosed injury.

Timmis was not healthy during the preseason, and the Tiger-Cats decided to deactivate him for the first six games or the regular season. C.J. Gable is in line to begin the season as Hamilton's top running back, and Ross Scheuerman will open as Gable's backup.

Hamilton could have depth issues with both Timmis and Anthony Woodson nursing undisclosed injuries as the season begins. The Canadian duo was set to back up starter C.J. Gable and Ross Scheuerman.
