RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance was placed on the one-game injured list in advance of Thursday's matchup with the Eskimos, Jeff Hamilton of the Winnipeg Free Press reports.

LaFrance joined the Blue Bombers over the offseason, and he will have to wait at least one week before making his debut with his new squad. LaFrance will be Winnipeg's third option at the running back position when everyone is healthy, but with fellow back Timothy Flanders (undisclosed) landing on the six-game injured list, he could occupy the backup spot for a bit once healthy.

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance signed a one-year deal with Winnipeg on Tuesday.

LaFrance ranked second on Saskatchewan in rushing yards last season, toting the rock 68 times for 273 yards and two touchdowns. He added 14 grabs for 20 yards and another scoreand should provide the Blue Bombers with some depth behind starter Andrew Harris.

February 1, 2018

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance was released by Saskatchewan on Thursday, Ian Hamilton of Riderville.com reports.

LaFrance appeared in 13 games for the team in 2017, racking up 273 rushing yards and two scores while adding another 123 receiving yards during his time on the field. The reserve back will look for his third home in as many years after playing for Ottawa in 2015 and 2016.

November 11, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance is listed as the top running back on the Roughriders' depth chart for Sunday's game against Ottawa.

With Cameron Marshall (knee) and Trent Richardson (lower body) left off the depth chart, LaFrance is set to earn a majority of the carries during the team's playoff game this weekend. Marcus Thigpen and Greg Morris are listed behind him at the position.

November 3, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance (undisclosed) was added to the Roughriders' depth chart leading up to Saturday's game against Edmonton.

LaFrance missed a couple of games with an undisclosed injury, and although he may not see a great deal of time on the field this weekend, he's officially back on the roster. He's listed as the second-string running back, and is set to back up Marcus Thigpen on Saturday.

October 26, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance (undisclosed) is not on the depth chart ahead of Friday's game against the Alouettes.

LaFrance is set to miss a second straight contest with an apparent injury that he suffered within the last couple weeks. In the backfield, Trent Richardson will handle the bulk of the load, while Greg Morris takes on a reserve role.

October 17, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

It's not clear what type of setback LaFrance is dealing with, but it will prevent him from playing in the Roughriders' next game Friday. LaFrance played second fiddle to Trent Richardson last week, and fellow running back Cameron Marshall (knee) is expected to return to action this week, so LaFrance could find himself in the No. 3 spot on the depth chart when he returns.

October 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lafrance carried the ball seven times for 12 yards and added three catches for 23 yards and a touchdown in Friday's 33-32 loss to the Redblacks.

While Trent Richardson ended up leading the 'Riders in carries and rushing yards, it was Lafrance who caught Kevin Glenn's first TD pass of the night. Richardson seems likely to assume the starting role again next Friday in Calgary, but the duo could continue to split backfield snaps and touches over the final three games of the season.

October 12, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance was promoted to the top of the depth chart ahead of Friday's game against Ottawa, Ian Hamilton of Riderville.com reports.

LaFrance recorded more carries than Trent Richardson during Saturday's victory over Toronto, and is listed as the lead back going into this weekend's contest. Although LaFrance hasn't exactly excelled in a starting role this season, he should receive a decent amount of opportunities for the Roughriders on Friday.

October 8, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance rushed six times for 38 yards, notched one reception for two yards and returned one kickoff for 26 yards in Saturday's 27-24 win over the Argonauts.

Despite seeing recent signee Trent Richardson ascend to the top of the depth chart, LaFrance still outpaced his teammate in touches on the night. The 26-year-old tailback is likely to still serve as a complement to Richardson, even as the latter's role in the offense likely expands over the final four games of the regular season. However, with only 3.9 yards per carry in 2017, LaFrance hasn't offered much fantasy value, even when he's served as the clear-cut lead back.

October 6, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance was listed behind Trent Richardson on the depth chart for Saturday's game against Toronto.

LaFrance will make way for the recently-acquired Trent Richardson, as the former Indianapolis Colt is sitting at the top of the depth chart ahead of Saturday's contest. Although LaFrance is sure to get his opportunities after delivering a solid performance against the Redblacks last weekend, the last time he was in this secondary position two weeks ago, he only recorded four carries.

September 29, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance rushed 12 times for 52 yards and a touchdown and added three receptions for 31 yards in Friday's 18-17 win over the Redblacks.

LaFrance scored the Roughriders' first offensive touchdown of the night when he went in from six yards out with 9:54 remaining in the fourth quarter. The 26-year-old running back scored his first touchdown since Week 12, which was also the only other contest in which he logged double-digit carries. LaFrance certainly performed well enough to draw another start, but recent signee Trent Richardson could also be ready for game action in the Week 16 tilt versus the Argonauts.

September 28, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance is listed as the starting running back for Friday's game against the Redblacks.

After an outing in which LaFrance carries the ball just four times for four yards in a reserve role, he'll take on the starting tailback job once again Friday. Even in the starting position, LaFrance doesn't offer much upside, with 49 yards in Week 12 serving as his season-high so far.

September 25, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance carried four times for four yards and added one reception for one yard in Sunday's 15-9 loss to the Stampeders.

LaFrance was moved back into a reserve role Sunday with Josh Harris technically getting the start, but he actually outproduced the latter, who only gained two yards on a sole rush. LaFrance has offered serviceable production in some starting opportunities this season, although his 49-yard effort in Week 12 counts as the high point of his campaign. The 26-year-old may see another opportunity with the first team when the Roughriders taken on his old Redblacks squad in Week 15.

September 23, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance is listed as the backup running back for Sunday's matchup against the Stampeders.

LaFrance worked as the Roughriders' top running back the last two weeks, but he will find himself back in a reserve role this week with fellow running back Josh Harris getting the start instead.

September 15, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance rushed nine times for 34 yards and hauled in one catch for 11 yards in Friday's 27-19 win over the Tiger-Cats.

The 26-year-old back couldn't quite replicate his solid 49-yard, one-touchdown effort from Week 12, but he was serviceable with the opportunities he did see. LaFrance doesn't offer much in the passing game, somewhat capping his fantasy value. However, he's slated to continue helming the Riders' backfield while Cameron Marshall (knee) remains on the injured list, and he'll try to better his production versus the Stampeders in Week 14.

September 10, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance carried the ball 12 times for 49 yards and a touchdown while adding two catches for 21 yards in Saturday's 48-28 loss to the Blue Bombers.

It was the first rushing TD of the 26-year-old's CFL career. With Cameron Mitchall (knee) now on IR, LaFrance should remain the starting RB for Saskatchewan over the next month or more, potentially forming a rare all-Canadian backfield for the Riders alongside Brandon Bridge, who replaced Kevin Glenn (hand) in the second half Saturday.

September 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance will start at running back during Saturday's game against the Blue Bombers, Lee Jones of CTV Regina reports.

With No.1 running back Cameron Marshall (undisclosed) sidelined, Lafrance has gotten the starting nod. He took over during Sunday's contest after Marshall suffered an injury, posting 23 yards on eight carries. On the year, LaFrance has appeared in six contests, tallying 59 yards on 14 carries. Last season, he saw the field 16 times, taking 37 carries for 163 yards. He has yet to record a touchdown in the CFL, but he'll certainly have the opportunity Saturday.

September 5, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lafrance took eight carries for 23 yards during Sunday's 38-24 victory over the Blue Bombers.

With No.1 running back Cameron Marshall suffering an undisclosed injury during Sunday's game, Lafrance was inserted into the game. While he didn't perform particularly well, the coaching staff has clearly shown confidence in him. Until word comes out to the contrary, he can likely be considered the starting back for the Roughriders next game, which takes place Saturday.

July 21, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance (hamstring) is listed as the third-string running back for Saturday's game against the Stampeders.

LaFrance's inclusion on the depth chart does not guarantee he will play this week -- he could still be a game-day scratch -- but it does indicate he has recovered from the hamstring injury that has sidelined him through this point of the season. Cameron Marshall will continue to start at running back for the Roughriders for the time being.

July 20, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance (hamstring) could play in Saturday's game against the Stampeders.

LaFrance has been sidelined since injuring his hamstring in training camp, but he was able to practice this week, and has a shot to make his season debut in Week 5. The Roughriders' depth chart, when released Friday, will provide more details in regards to both LaFrance's availability and role.

July 7, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance (hamstring) remains on the one-game injured list for Week 3.

LaFrance is still working his way back from his preseason hamstring injury, and he is not ready to take the field just yet. He will have an extra week of rest coming up with Saskatchewan on bye in Week 4.

June 30, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance (hamstring) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Blue Bombers.

LaFrance was able to practice this week, but he is not ready for game action just yet. Cameron Marshall will get another start at running back, and another opportunity to stake claim to the job long-term.

June 27, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance (hamstring) took part in Tuesday's practice.

It's not clear how much work LaFrance was able to get in Tuesday, but his participation gives him a chance to return to action for Saskatchewan's next game Saturday against the Blue Bombers.

June 21, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance (hamstring) was placed on the one-game injured list in advance of the Roughriders' season opener.

LaFrance was slowed by a hamstring injury during training camp, and he is not healthy enough to play just yet. He was able to practice recently, however, so he should have a chance to play in Week 2. With LaFrance out for Thursday's game, Cameron Marshall will work as the Roughriders' top running back.

June 18, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance is questionable for Thursday's season opener due to a hamstring injury, according to the Regina Leader-Post.

LaFrance would likely start at running back for the Roughriders if healthy, but he injured his hamstring early in training camp and was not healthy enough to play in either preseason game, so it remains to be seen if he will be able to suit up in Week 1. If LaFrance is unable to play Thursday, Cameron Marshall would be the favorite to start in his place.

February 14, 2017

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lafrance signed with the Roughriders on Tuesday.

Saskatchewan bolstered its backfield Tuesday by going out and acquiring the free agent running back. The 25-year-old was a difference maker in the postseason in 2016, combining for 199 rushing yards in the final two games as the Redblacks captured the Grey Cup. Lafrance will compete with Curtis Steele, Daniel Thomas, and Greg Morris for touches in the Roughrider backfield.

November 28, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lafrance totaled 42 yards on 11 rushes and added 31 yards on six receptions in Sunday's 39-33 overtime Grey Cup victory over the Stamps.

Lafrance got the start once again with Mossis Madu sidelined with an injury. However, the breakneck pace that ensued in the second half thanks to a furious comeback by the Stamps made Lafrance much more of a factor in the passing game than on the ground. Despite only totaling 163 rushing yards in a significantly reduced role in 2016, Lafrance certainly showed plenty of upside in last week's Eastern Conference finals victory, giving him some momentum heading into next season.

November 20, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lafrance gained 157 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries in Sunday's 35-23 Eastern Finals win over the Eskimos.

Lafrance took the reins of the ground game after a first-quarter injury to Mossis Madu and scored the game-sealing touchdown late in the fourth quarter to ensure a Grey Cup appearance for Ottawa. The 25-year-old, who'd last recorded a carry in Week 9, tallied a game-long 28-yard run and was outstanding throughout the final three quarters, posting a career-high rushing total in the process. With Madu's status for next week's championship tilt in question, Lafrance could find himself in the spotlight once again in the biggest game of the season.

September 19, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance had one reception for three yards in Saturday's loss to the Stampeders.

LaFrance took the field Saturday for the first time in nearly a month but played only a bit role behind primary running back Travon Van. Expect that to continue as long as Van is healthy.

August 31, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lafrance is not on the depth chart for Thursday's game against Montreal.

This marks the second game in a row Lafrance will sit out. Travon Van is listed as the starting running back instead.

August 25, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lafrance was scratched from Thursday's lineup, Gord Holder of the Ottawa Citizen reports.

Lafrance got the opportunity to start in Week 9 with Nic Grigsby released and Travon Van still on the injured list, but he will not only cede the starting running back duties to a healthy Van in Week 10; he will not suit up altogether.

August 19, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lafrance gained 21 yards on six carries and added 21 yards on three receptions in Friday's 43-19 loss to the Als.

The 25-year-old national couldn't do much with his starting opportunity, as the Redblacks found themselves in perpetual catch-up mode in the second half. Lafrance may head back to a reserve role next week if former starter Travon Van is able to return from the leg injury that's kept him out since midway through Week 2.

August 17, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lafrance will start at running back this week, Tim Baines of the Ottawa Sun reports.

Lafrance's five carries last week were his most since Week 2, but following the release of Nic Grigsby and with Travon Van (leg) not yet ready to return, he will be the Redblacks' primary running back this week. Lafrance's stint as the starter could be brief, however, as Van is on track to return to action next week.

July 7, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

Lafrance will serve as the Redblacks' No. 2 running back this week behind starter Nic Grigsby, according to Martin Comtois of LeDroit.

It appeared Lafrance would step into the starting role this week with Travon Van landing on the 6-game injured list, but that job will instead go to Nic Grigsby. Lafrance was productive last week with 74 total yards, but he will not be the Redblacks' top running back this week, and is looking at a timeshare at best.

June 30, 2016

RotoWire Fantasy Analysis

LaFrance, who saw his workload increase after Trevor Van exited the game with a lower body injury, gained 52 yards on 13 carries and added 22 yards on his sole reception in Thursday's 28-13 victory over the Alouettes.

The 25-year-old national may be the Redblacks' primary ballcarrier next week if Van remains sidelined, and if so, he provided reason to believe he's capable of carrying the load. LaFrance was effective on the ground and in his sole opportunity through the air, flashing some of the same all-purpose skills that he demonstrated during his college career at Manitoba. Van's status for Ottawa's Week 3 tilt versus Calgary will largely determine the extent of LaFrance's opportunity in that contest.
