RotoWire's Preseason Outlooks

2018

Subscribe now to see our 2018 outlook.

2017

After seeing action in only seven games between three different clubs in 2015, Cadet found himself back in New Orleans last year once again playing a role in their prolific passing game and, a few extra touchdowns aside, putting up nearly identical receiving numbers to his 2014 performance. He re-signed on a one-year deal with the Saints early this offseason, but the subsequent additions of Adrian Peterson and especially Alvin Kamara could squeeze Cadet off the final roster given that both Kamara and Mark Ingram are quite capable receivers in their own right. At 6-1 and 210 pounds, Cadet is larger than the typical scatback but has never shown he can contribute as anything but a third-down option in the NFL, which could limit his job prospects in the event he gets cut loose in training camp.

2016

Cadet spent his first three seasons in New Orleans after making the team as an undrafted rookie free agent in 2012. After recording 38 receptions for 296 yards in his final year with the Saints, he signed with the Patriots in 2015. Yet, Cadet struggled to find playing time in New England and was eventually cut by the Patriots in September. After a short stint with the 49ers, he returned to the Saints, catching nine passes for 148 yards over the team's final two contests. Primarily a passing-down specialist, Cadet is expected to compete with Marcus Murphy and Daniel Lasco for a roster spot in a crowded Saints' backfield.

2015

Though Cadet carried just 10 times for 32 yards in 15 games for the Saints in 2014, he did catch 38 passes for 296 yards and a touchdown in that span, so with the Patriots heíll presumably have an opportunity to help fill the void created by the offseason departure of pass-catching back, Shane Vereen. James White is another candidate for the role, however, with Brandon Bolden, Dion Lewis and Tyler Gaffney also in the mix on that front. LeGarrette Blount (who will miss Week 1 due to a suspension) and Jonas Gray are on hand to do the heavy lifting in the teamís backfield, but Cadet could still emerge as a PPR sleeper in the event that he ends up seeing significant change-of-pace snaps.

2014

Cadet will attempt to hold on to his job as the Saints' fourth running back behind Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram and Khiry Robinson. With Darren Sproles gone to Philadelphia, an injury to Thomas or Ingram could open up an opportunity for Cadet ot flourish in the Saints' pass-happy offense.

2013

After making the team last season as an undrafted free agent, Cadet saw only limited playing time at running back and as a kick returner. Cadet flashed impressive skills as a receiver out of the backfield, however, he is behind Pierre Thomas, Mark Ingram and Darren Sproles on the running back depth chart. Yet, with Chris Ivory now in New York, Cadet is one injury away from being a potential fantasy contributor if he can hold onto his position as the Saints' fourth running back.

2012

Cadet will serve as the fifth running back for the Saints. While highly versatile, there are simply too many bodies in front of him to expect him to contribute enough to make an impact for even deep fantasy teams.
