29-Year-Old UFC Heavyweight
June 12, 2018 Greg Hardy News
RotoWire Fantasy Analysis
Hardy was signed by the UFC following a knockout victory over Austen Lane during Dana White's Tuesday Night Contender Series, MMAFighting.com reports.
A former six-year veteran of the NFL, Hardy fell out of the league following domestic violence allegations in 2014. While those charges were eventually expunged from his record, he wasn't able to find any suitors elsewhere in the league and is now set to give professional fighting a shot. Hardy didn't disappoint in front of UFC president Dana White, showing some impressive athleticism for his size and finishing with a first-round knockout. That ultimately earned the 6-foot-4 big man a contract, though Brett Okamoto of ESPN reports the UFC could have Hardy fight outside of the promotion to gain some added experience first. Striking defense will be one area of focus at the amateur level, as Hardy tends to leave his chin exposed in order to land strikes of his own, but he's plenty young and athletic to correct that in time.
