Injury News Updates:

English Premier League (EPL)

Major League Soccer (MLS)

Mouez Hassen    G    Southampton
Hassen left the pitch in the 15th minute due to an apparent shoulder injury.

Fantasy Analysis

Hassen made a solid initial save, but the follow up from Harry Kane found the back of the net. In the process of making the stop, the keeper suffered a shoulder issue that saw him replaced by Farouk Ben Mustapha. Its unclear whether the 23-year-old Hassen will be able to return between the sticks against Belgium on Saturday.
Vincent Kompany    D    Manchester City
Kompany will stay with the national team despite his injury, according to Belgium manager Roberto Martinez on Sunday. "We are not going to use any changes. Vinny (Kompany) has evolved better than we thought, even though we thought that he could have a good opportunity to be involved in the group phase. Now he has a stronger opportunity."

Fantasy Analysis

Kompany is out against Panama on Monday and likely out against Tunisia June 23, but now still has a chance to be ready for the last group stage match against England June 28. His tournament is likely far from over with Belgium in one of the easier groups in the field.
Andreas Christensen    D    Chelsea
Christensen is expected to be fit for Thursday's match with Australia, according to manager Age Hareide after the match Saturday. "Christensen had a bit of a cramp so we couldn't take any chances with him".

Fantasy Analysis

Christensen had to come off in the 80th minute of the match, but it seems to have just been a precautionary move. He contributed to a clean sheet in the last match and will look to do it again Thursday.
Fred    M    Manchester United
Fred was ruled out of Sunday's match against Switzerland by manager Tite. Fred returned to training, but according to the manager, it was not worth it to risk him.

Fantasy Analysis

Fred is expected to be ready for the next match June 22 against Costa Rica, and Fernandinho is a potential replacement Sunday.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson    M    Burnley
Gudmundsson subbed off with an undisclosed injury during Saturday's match with Argentina.

Fantasy Analysis

Gudmundsson was unable to continue in what looked like a lower body injury. He was replaced by Rurik Gislason in the 63rd minute and will need to be evaluated ahead of next Friday's match with Nigeria. Gudmundsson dealt with a hamstring injury while playing for Burnley last season, which could be the case once again.
Mohamed Salah    F/M    Liverpool
Salah (shoulder) was an unused substitute in Friday's 1-0 loss to Uruguay.

Fantasy Analysis

Salah was deemed fit ahead of the match as he made the 18-man squad, but was left on the bench. It was going to be a big ask for him to return from a separated shoulder in three weeks after he picked up the injury in the Champions League final on May 26. Salah's status for next Monday's match with Russia remains unclear at this point.
Manuel Lanzini    M    West Ham United
Lanzini will miss the World Cup and part of the next Premier League season after suffering a torn ACL during training with Argentina, the federation announced Friday.

Fantasy Analysis

Lanzini looked slated to start for Argentina in Russia, but his absence could allow Paulo Dybala to finally break into the first XI on a regular basis. His injury is also a massive blow to West Ham, who relied on Lanzini for much of their attacking creativity and set pieces.
Ashley Williams    D    Everton
Williams suffered broken ribs and a collapsed lung after a 20 minute appearance for Wales against Mexico on Monday, according to his official Facebook page.

Fantasy Analysis

Williams came on for his first match in nearly three months, but was not able to carry on any longer. With Wales out of the World Cup, he must now take the rest of the Summer to heal up before the Premier League Season begins in August.
James Tarkowski    D    Burnley
Tarkowski withdrew from the England World Cup camp to undergo a hernia operation.

Fantasy Analysis

Tarkowski is on the five-man stand-by list for the World Cup, but the operation all but rules him out from playing in Russia this summer. On the plus side, he is expected to be fit for Burnley's pre-season training in early July.
Sergio Romero    G    Manchester United
Romero will not be available to play for Argentina during the World Cup because of a knee injury.

Fantasy Analysis

Romero initially made Argentina's 23-man squad, but his injury will allow Nahuel Guzman to go to Russia. Willy Caballero could start for Argentina in Romero's absence.
Kiko    M/D    Watford
Kiko (undisclosed) was not in the 18-man squad for Saturday's 1-0 loss to Manchester United.

Fantasy Analysis

Kiko was unable to overcome a knock suffered in training ahead of the match, which allowed Daryl Janmaat to make the starting XI at right-back.
Miguel Britos    D    Watford
Britos (undisclosed) was not in the 18-man squad for Sunday's 1-0 loss to Manchester United.

Fantasy Analysis

Britos was unable to overcome a small knock, which allowed Craig Cathcart and Christian Kabasele to partner at center-back.
Mario Lemina    M    Southampton
Lemina (hamstring) was not in the 18-man squad for Sunday's 1-0 loss to Manchester City.

Fantasy Analysis

Lemina was forced off the pitch two weekends ago, which kept the midfielder out of training and ultimately Sunday's loss. He should be apart of Southampton's plans next season now that they've secured their place in the league.
Steven Davis    M    Southampton
Davis (ankle) was not in the 18-man squad for Sunday's 1-0 loss to Manchester City.

Fantasy Analysis

Davis battled injuries throughout the second half of the season, which is a main reason the Southampton captain started in just two matches after the turn of the year. He should be apart of the club's plans as they prepare for next season.
Connor Wickham    F    Crystal Palace
Wickham (calf) was not in the 18-man roster for Sunday's 2-0 victory over West Brom.

Fantasy Analysis

Wickham was dealing with injuries all season and was unable to feature in any match during the Premier League campaign.
Serge Aurier    M/D    Tottenham Hotspur
Aurier missed Sunday's match against Leicester due to his ongoing hamstring injury.

Fantasy Analysis

Aurier was in and out of the lineup all season, but was often effective when playing. He finished with two goals and two assists in 16 league starts and then another assist in six UCL starts. Becoming a regular at right back will be his goal next campaign.
Shane Duffy    D    Brighton & Hove Albion
Duffy subbed off with an apparent back injury during Sunday's match with Liverpool.

Fantasy Analysis

Duffy took a hard fall while defending a set-piece early in the second half. He attempted to play on, but was eventually forced to leave the pitch under his own power. Duffy was replaced by Connor Goldson at center-back.
Arthur Masuaku    M/D    West Ham United
Masuaku subbed off with an undisclosed injury during Sunday's match with Everton.

Fantasy Analysis

Masuaku was replaced by Edimilison Fernandes in the 20th minute. He'll need to be evaluated by the medical staff, though with the season finishing up, it won't affect many lineups unless it turns out to be a serious ailment.
Etienne Capoue    M    Watford
Capoue will miss Sunday's match with Manchester United due to personal reason.

Fantasy Analysis

Capoue has been a consistent starter during the back half of the season, which could leave a spot in the starting XI open for Gerard Deulofeu.
Robert Huth    D    Leicester City
Huth (ankle) will miss Sunday's match with Tottenham.

Fantasy Analysis

Huth failed to make an appearance this season, which is likely why he will leave the club at the end of the season.
Ben Chilwell    D    Leicester City
Chilwelll (ankle) will miss Sunday's match with Tottenham.

Fantasy Analysis

Chilwell will miss his third straight match, effectively ending his season. He made 24 appearances, with 20 of those coming in the starting XI.
Kenedy    F/M    Newcastle United
Kenedy will miss Sunday's match with Chelsea due to terms in his loan agreement.

Fantasy Analysis

Kenedy is on loan from Chelsea for the season, which will keep the winger out against his parent club. He's had a solid season with Newcastle, finishing with two goals and two assists since receiving his first start Jan. 31. Matt Ritchie is a potential option to replace Kenedy in the starting XI.
Christian Atsu    M    Newcastle United
Atsu (knee) will miss Sunday's match with Chelsea.

Fantasy Analysis

Atsu hasn't seen a ton of minutes in the back half of the season, making his absence unlikely to hurt many fantasy lineups. Matt Ritchie and Jacob Murphy could start on the wings in a tough matchup with Chelsea.
Ciaran Clark    D    Newcastle United
Clark (knee) will miss Sunday's match with Chelsea.

Fantasy Analysis

Clark won't be risked with very little to play for in the season finale. Jamaal Lascelles and Florian Lejeune are expected to pair at center-back against the Blues.
Ashley Barnes    F    Burnley
Barnes (shoulder) has been ruled out of Sunday's match with Bournemouth.

Fantasy Analysis

Barnes was replaced in the first half of last Sunday's 5-0 loss to Arsenal, which will keep Barnes out of the season finale. Sam Vokes replaced Barnes in the match and could make the starting XI against Bournemouth. Scans revealed that Barnes should be fit for the start of pre-season.
Ben Mee    D    Burnley
Mee (leg) has been ruled out of Sunday's match with Bournemouth.

Fantasy Analysis

Mee ends the season having missed the last month and a half of action. Kevin Long should receive another starting nod as Mee's replacement.
Adam Smith    M/D    AFC Bournemouth
Smith (knee) will miss Saturday's match with Burnley.

Fantasy Analysis

Smith will continue to work through injury rehabilitation as he attempts to be fit for the beginning of pre-season training in late July.
Harry Arter    M    AFC Bournemouth
Arter (Achilles) has been ruled out of Sunday's match with Burnley.

Fantasy Analysis

Arter hasn't played in a match since Jan. 1 and was unlikely to receive playing time even if he was fit. He should be healthy for the beginning of the pre-season in late July.
Mason Holgate    D    Everton
Holgate (ankle) won't be risked for Sunday's match with West Ham.

Fantasy Analysis

Holgate recently returned to training after undergoing an ankle operation in February, but won't feature in the final match of the season. He should be fit for the start of pre-season in late July.
Wayne Rooney    F/M    Everton
Rooney (knee) will miss Sunday's match with West Ham.

Fantasy Analysis

Rooney underwent treatment for a minor knee injury on Friday for the same injury that kept him out of last weekend's 1-1 draw with Southampton. Nikola Vlasic has seen improved playing time as of late, which could be the case again Sunday.
Steven Defour    M    Burnley
Defour (knee) is aiming for a pre-season return from injury.

Fantasy Analysis

Defour underwent surgery for torn cartilage in early February and should have a good chance to be fit for the beginning of next season.
